Former head of IP and Security Design at Ericsson brought in to help expand the existing skill set and grow head-count
08 June 2011, Stoke based eGaming operator bet365 has today announced the appointment of Neil Selby to Head of Networks and Security. Selby is tasked with bringing all personnel responsible for running bet365’s network and security products into one department and establishing the skills and resources needed to respond to new challenges.
“As our network becomes increasingly complex, traditional technologies and ways of working are becoming less relevant. Having the right talent in-house to ensure that we can navigate the new terrain before us is essential,” said Chris Tolson, Chief Platform Architect, bet365. “We needed someone that could work to very short timescales, while not compromising on the quality of the solution or the integrity of our security. Neil not only fulfilled these criteria but is also a brilliant manager of people.”
Selby is responsible for a multi-million pound budget, which he will use to grow his team, expand bet365’s global footprint and continue to refresh and improve the company’s technology deployments.
“bet365 is a company unlike any other that I have worked in,” said Neil Selby. “This is a technology led company in the truest sense. Here the IT and IP is considered an enabler that plays a key role in the continued growth of the business. There is a clear vision of where the company wants to get to and an unerring commitment to what is required to get there.”
Selby has been working in IP, Security and communications for over 15 years. Before joining Orange, at its launch, he served in the Royal Corps of Signals, the arm of the Army responsible for providing communications during combat.
“I know what it’s like to work under pressure,” said Selby.
