Arrested in January, and five continuances later Lawrence and Lefebvre remain untried
May 16 was the last date set for a hearing into charges related to online gambling lodged against Neteller founders Stephen Lawrence and John Lefebvre by the US Department of Justice, yet in the fifth continuance to date yesterday (Wednesday) the two men were told the matter had again been postponed - although for only two weeks rather than the now usual one month.
Out on $5 million bail and confined to the United States, the issue must be wearing for Lefebvre and Lawrence, respectable Canadian businessmen who had to undergo the indignity of being arrested by the FBI and detained before the massive bail bond was set back in January this year.
The arrests resulted in the Isle of Man-based and London listed e-wallet they founded withdrawing from the US, freezing US player accounts and monies and conducting a series of negotiations of unknown content with the feds.
A month back, Neteller said that agreement had been reached on paying the US player account balances, but that this could take some time. Since then there has been little in the way of overt movement or communication from the company. |
