Israeli poker player, Ziv Bachar, the best out of 186
Israeli poker player Ziv Bachar from Tel Aviv survived an initial starter field of 186 players in the Poker Stars Asia Pacific Poker Tour Seoul over the weekend to take down the final title and biggest $139 872 prize.
It was clearly Bachar's day when the final table convened, as he had the highest chip count, more than 60 000 ahead of his closest rival, Jozef Berec. And that's the way they finished after a tense heads up....but back to the start of that final table.
Paul Adams was the first man out with a $8 740 payday after a three way tussle with Michel St-Pierre and James Honeybone. On the next hand played it was Dan Schreiber headed for the exit and a check for $ 13 113 after a clash with Berec. It took several hours of play to oust loser number 7 which turned out to be Roger Spets, who fell to some smart play by Bachar and took home $17 484.
Seval Hægeland busted shortly after Spets as the action escalated and was called by St-Pierre and Ziv Bachar, with the former busting the Dane in sixth place for $21 855. James Honeybone outlasted Hægeland by half an orbit before he lost a tussle with Berec that saw him off to the rail in fifth position worth $28 412.
Up to this point Michel St-Pierre, who had started short-stacked compared to the leaders, had given a very creditable performance but he became the fourth place victim in a confrontation with Shinhan Sid Kim which dealt him out, albeit with a valuable $34 968 consolation payment for his fourth place finish.
After the dinner break the three survivors went to it with a will, with Bachar starting confidently to bust Kim out in third place for $48 081. That hand left Bachar with nearly a 10:1 chip lead on his heads up opponent Berec, and he wasted no time in pressing his advantage to bust Berec and take the title and the first prize cash. Berec took home a worthwhile second prize of $87 420. |
