International Federation of Football History and Statistics (IFFHS) has named Ali Ashfaq (Dhagandey) as one of the World’s Top Goal Scorer’s of 2013.
Ashfaq, who scored 23 goals in Class A international games came second in the list released by IFFHS, was just below Christiano Ronaldo of Portugal who had netted a total of 25 goals.
According to IFFHS, 30 players scored 10 or more goals in 2013. They are divided by confederation into Europe, South America, Africa, Asia and Confederation of North, Central American and Caribbean Association Football (CONCACAF). Regarding club football, they are divided into Europe, Asia, South America, CONCACAF and Africa.
IFFHS has calculated the World’s Best Top Goal Scorer since 1991 and only international goals scored in full A internationals, Olympic final tournaments and intercontinental club competitions such as FIFA, AFC, CAF, UEFA from 1st January to 31st December are taken in to account. If the number of goals are equal, the player who scored more goals in full A internationals is ranked higher.
Ashfaq’s 23 goals include 14 with the Maldivian National Team and nine with his previous club, New Radiant Sports Club.
Ashfaq has since left the club and has signed up to play for Police Club in Malaysia.
In their 23 year history, this is the first time IFFHS's annual report had included a Maldivian player. |
