DOVER, Del. (AP) -
A survey of men in the region shows the return of sports betting could bring 70 (m) million dollars in new tax revenues. The report says residents of Pennsylvania, Maryland and New Jersey would spend 200 (m) million dollars in Delaware.
The state's three racinos funded the study last year to refocus attention on the state's sports betting programs. The report surveyed more than 15-hundred men living near -- but outside -- Delaware.
A report about sports betting in Delaware has encouraged lawmakers to work on a bill that could be introduced this spring.
State Representative Vincent Lofink says they will review the report and try to convince Governor Minner it's a good idea. He says its a matter of dollars and cents -- it could improve the state's revenue outlook.
Governor's spokeswoman Kate Bailey says Minner has firm convictions against sports betting and hasn't changed her mind. |
